Our latest community outreach day brought volunteers, staff and partners together for one of the most rewarding days on our calendar.
On the day
Food parcels were delivered to households on our elderly support register. A visiting health worker carried out blood pressure and blood sugar checks, and helped several people arrange follow-up appointments at their local clinic.
Volunteers also helped with practical tasks around the home — small repairs, collecting water, and sorting out paperwork that had been sitting unresolved for months.
The part that mattered most
Ask our team what made the biggest difference and none of them will say the parcels. It was the conversations. Isolation is one of the hardest parts of growing old without family nearby, and a few hours of genuine company changes the whole week.
